Well, it *was* a relaxing time away...

So we went away to Pacific Grove for a couple of days. It was nice there, and we had a good time. Which was pretty much totally wiped away when we got home.

We had contracted to get our fence replaced, as the last storm had knocked part of it down. (I'd repaired that section, but it was clear that it needed replacing). When the fence company didn't show up on the appointed day, and didn't answer our calls, we faxed them a cancellation, as well as canceling to the office and the sales rep when we finally got ahold of them. So we were totally floored when we came home today to a new fence from them.

It's just un-frickin' believable! I called them and asked "What part of cancel did you not understand?" Both the office and the sales rep sounded shocked that their company had put the fence in. The sales guy said "You couldn't have been more clear about canceling". So we are looking to see what legal recourse we have, and if we have to pay for something we canceled. One site said something about returning the site to its original condition--are they going to put our old fence back up? I doubt it.

We're stunned. Just totally flummoxed. Can we go away and have another mini vacation? No, we better not do that; look what happened this time...

BTW, don't even think of doing business with Coastal Fence & Lumber. They put up signs on the fence with their name on it. I took them down for now: I haven't decided yet whether or not to put them up with "DO NOT USE" written above "Coastal Lumber". It would serve them right, but the sales guy lives around here, and I don't really want to start a war. Yet.
